The paywall in this product is the credit system: run the monthly grant to zero and the account is locked out and prompted to upgrade. This tracks every account's distance from that wall, and what happens when they reach it.

The answer — accounts that hit the wall and didn't pay

accounts have hit the credit paywall, gone at least 7 days, and still not entered a card. A further 17 hit the wall within the last week and simply haven't decided yet — counting those as refusals would overstate the number.

The bigger finding is the denominator. Only 260 of 7,473 accounts (3.5%) have ever reached the wall at all. Free users overwhelmingly don't consume enough to get there, so the constraint on conversion right now is activation, not price resistance.

Read the 35% conversion figure with care. 91 accounts that hit the wall are now on a paid tier — but being paid now does not prove the wall caused the upgrade. Paid tiers receive credit grants too, so an account that upgraded for its own reasons and later exhausted its larger paid grant lands in exactly this bucket. Confirming genuine wall-driven conversion needs the upgrade timestamp compared against the first wall-hit date; the ledger alone can't supply it. GRANTED_AT_FIRST_WALL in the table below is the tell — a first wall hit on a free-sized grant is a real conversion, one on a much larger grant is not.

Distance from the wall — the 467 accounts with real usage

7,006 of 7,473 accounts (93.8%) are dormant — under 5% of their monthly grant used. They are held out of the bar below, which would otherwise be one long grey block with every meaningful segment squeezed to a few pixels. That share is the headline finding, not a slice to compare against the others.

Among the rest, utilization is credits consumed against the monthly grant, so 100% is exhaustion. Counts are canonical accounts — duplicate orgs are collapsed so an account is counted once. Not measurable yet Constantly hits the wall needs 2+ exhausted billing periods and the credit system has only completed one cycle since 2026-07-22, so today it can only catch accounts re-granted mid-period. It is shown rather than hidden, and becomes meaningful as cycles accumulate.

Method. There is no "paywall viewed" event — the paywall is the credit system. An org is locked out when its running credit balance reaches zero, so a "wall hit" is the running balance in credit_ledger crossing from above zero to zero or below. Computed nightly in transform/10_credit_wall.sql.
Limits. Pricing went live 2026-07-22, so all figures are lifetime-to-date on a young system, not steady state — the declined count will grow as more free users exhaust a grant. Ledger rows are ordered by entry date alone (no tiebreaker column), so a grant and a consumption on the same date order arbitrarily. Reset is per-account on the billing anniversary, not month-end. "Paid after wall" is co-occurrence, not proven causation.
